Saving the work environment

Dear r/macapps, I'm looking for a tool for Mac that lets me restore or manage my workspace. For example, I’d like to have XCode on the screen at a specific window position I’ve set, and in the same size as when I last exited XCode. At the same time, I want to place Upnote at a specific screen position and maybe have Textastic somewhere on the screen as well. Is there a tool like that?

Calendar 366 v3 Problems

I've seen an active post discussing the pricing policies of the new Calendar 366 v3. I want to discuss functionality and some of the problems that I'm experiencing with this new release. I'm currently using the free version because I have too many issues to fork over $. Functionality I haven't been getting any notifications when I receive an invitation. Other apps show a red circle with the number of invites on the a

Read-it-later apps as of May 2026: GoodLinks, Raindrop.io or a different one?

What read-it-later apps do people use these days? Is GoodLinks the most popular and reliable one? By reliable, I mean being able to capture most standard web contents properly, including paywall articles. I'd also like the app to support both highlights and notes in the saved articles. Are GoodLinks and Raindrop.io the most popular ones or are there others, equally popular? I'm not looking for an app with 10 download

Menu Bar Charging Utility?

I’m trying to track down a menu bar utility I saw mentioned in a comment here a while back. The app has a very modern macOS 26 (Tahoe) look and features a unique charging bar in the menu bar. It shows the total incoming wattage, and the bar itself splits to show how much power is going to the battery versus how much is being used by the system in real time. Does anyone have the name or a link? It looked incredibly cl

transcribing videos (two speakers)

I know there have been endless transcription app posts. But can someone recommend an actually good app for batch transcribing text from long (about an hour each) video files, assuming there are multiple speakers in each video (usually 2). Extra points if it can work on files that are stored in network drive but that is not critical.

Looking for the app that shows “active windows” from an app

Hi, a while ago, I saw an app in this group, the OP told that you can see all the active windows from apps and can switch intuitively from one to another. It’s not about cmd+tab. So I remember it had this search alike window, and you could see exactly like a list in a board. Can someone help me to find the app? Used ask feature but it didn’t return anything. Thank you ☺️.

there was an app to catalogue your apps, right?

Hi folks. Am I remembering correctly, or just having an elder moment... that I saw an app listed here not too long ago that would scan your apps folder and give you a quick summary that included things like the purpose of each app (which I'd be keen to have), where it came from, other important details, etc?

[OS] TypeWhisper 1.5.0 - open-source macOS dictation with local/cloud engines, Workflows, and app-aware insertion

Hi r/macapps, I build TypeWhisper, a macOS dictation and text automation app. I just shipped 1.5.0 as the new stable release. Problem I use dictation a lot, but the frustrating part is not just speech-to-text accuracy. It is everything around it: text insertion behaves differently in Terminal, Slack, Mail, browsers, writing apps, and Electron apps sometimes I want local-only transcription, sometimes a faster cloud/AP

Kanbanero: a lightweight, local-first kanban app for macOS

Kanbanero is a lightweight kanban app for macOS where each board is a plain JSON file in a folder you pick on your disk. **Problem** I wanted a lightweight kanban app witt no account or server needed; just a simple data format stored locally I could easily read and use with Git for backup / history. **Comparison** I've used Trello and Jira before. Both OK for teams, but for personal use most kanban apps have too many

WindowBunny - Window Switcher built for trackpad users. [Giveaway]

The Problem: For the last couple of days, I've been working on WindowBunny, which solved a specific problem which I faced. There are no window switchers solely focused on trackpad users. I use trackpad a lot and the existing window switchers focus on keyboard shortcuts, but I found that taking your hands off trackpad just to switch windows felt awkward. Searching for an App which was posted here (App to mute audio when tilting the screen)

So just wanted to ask for an App I thought I saw here. It was one you can use to mute music, etc when you close the lid of a macbook slightly.
