modern Spaces apps? I miss HyperSpaces and the ability to do 2D setups.

pretty much title. i use a lot of near-fullscreen apps and having a 2x2 / 2x3 grid of Spaces will be very valuable to me. i tried window managers but splitting a video editing app into 1/6 of a space isn't very useful to me.

Need brief

User wants a modern macOS Spaces app that supports a 2D grid layout (e.g., 2x2 or 2x3) for organizing near-fullscreen apps, especially for media production workflows, and prefers it to be open-source.

Interoperable Apple Photos Alternative?

I'm looking to migrate away from Apple Photos to an app with similar functionality that, ideally, is built on SwiftUI, but has the flexibility of an easy to navigate folder hierarchy, making it interoperable.

Sound app suggestions to boost voice when using a screen recorder Please

I do a lot of screen recording and sometimes the voice is hard to hear even at full blast. I'm looking for a volume booster, bonus points if I can set it per app, but the voice clarity and boost is most important. I checked the app comparisons but no sound/audio app options Thank you in advance.

A macOS app that boosts voice volume during screen recording, preferably per-app, must work on macOS beta 27, prioritizing voice clarity.

Did iFlicks get abandoned? Looking for alternatives + download help.

So I’ve noticed a bunch of older threads asking about iFlicks, but none of them seem current and none have solid answers. I’ve used iFlicks forever, but it really feels like the dev has disappeared. No replies to emails, website looks half‑broken, and I can’t get a working download anywhere. Has anyone found a good replacement that does the same automation? I mainly need: Folder watching Auto‑processing Auto‑tagging

Iris: The Mac Photo App for People Who Don't Trust iCloud With 80,000 Photos

TL;DR: Iris is a Mac photo viewer that indexes photos where they already exist (folder, external drive, or your existing Apple Photos library) instead of importing them into a managed database. It does on-device face recognition, OCR/speech search, and a real map (Photo Trails) that plots every geotagged photo so you can browse by location. No cloud, no account, no subscription; one-time purchase, 14-day trial. It's

Imagin Raw - folder based photo culling app (Bridge replacement)

Problem: I don’t like the process of importing my photos inside a black boxed app, I don’t know what happens with them and how i’ll back them up, and it’s probably a trauma from the iTunes days when importing music was duplicating and hiding it. That’s why I use Adobe Bridge to manage my photos. The problem with Bridge though is that it’s an extremely heavy app and slow to launch, cpu and memory intensive, and my las

I built Curlo, a Mac app for searching local sound libraries by description with local AI

Curlo is a 100% local, AI-powered macOS app built for people who work with large local audio assets, including sound designers, video editors, music producers, and audio post-production professionals. Problem: I’m also a part-time audiobook post-production editor, so Curlo came from my own frustration with managing and finding sounds in local audio libraries. Traditional audio asset managers usually depend on filenam

FilePane alternatives ?

Hello, I'm looking for an alternative to FilePane, but I can't find any... I particularly appreciate the format/resizing conversion and the quick compression of the images. But especially that everything happens within the same software, without having to go looking for other software to do what I want. I tried Dropover, but finally, it's not practical at all: the conversion overwrites the original file and if I choo

Castly: simple Mac screen recording with webcam, mic, and local saving

Hey r/macapps, I built Castly, a simple Mac screen recording app focused only on recording. Problem: I wanted a screen recording app that also captures the webcam, so product demos and similar videos feel more alive. At the same time, I wanted something lightweight and easy to use, without editing, timelines, or extra workflow complexity. Best local, one-time purchase, image upscaler for Mac/Windows?

I have thousands of images that I need to upscale and I am looking for a local-only solution. Ideally I could use it on both Windows and Mac, but I am open to options that are excessive to either operating system if they are incredible. Would be even better if it's also open source, but not a requirement.

After implementing feedback from r/macapps, I benchmarked MediaOrganizer Studio on a 25-year archive with 363k files. Here’s what happened.

[Problem] Managing large photo archives across multiple Macs, external drives, Photos libraries, exports, and backup folders often leads to structural fragmentation over time. In the previous r/macapps discussion, heavy users pointed out operational issues involving deep folder structures, recursive scans and visibility during sustained execution sessions. After implementing these changes, two additional operational
